Our hearts go out to all Maui-based team members as they navigate the aftermath of the devastating Maui wildfires.

Since 1957, Allied Universal has worked to keep people, businesses and communities safe. In that spirit, we’ve created this page to highlight resources available to those affected through our company and existing insurance relationships.

Employee Assistance Program Support

Confidential clinical and work-life consultation is available by phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from licensed clinicians to address many of life’s challenges.

Some key services include:

Kaiser Permanente Members

Medical Insurance Support

The Maui Lani Medical Office and the Wailuku Medical Office locations were open as of Aug. 14. The Kihei Clinic was scheduled to reopen Aug. 14, 2023. The Lahaina Clinic, as well as the Rainbow Dialysis center in Lahaina were both destroyed by the fire.

If you are evacuated with questions about scheduled appointments, contact the Hawaii Appointment and Advice Call Center at 1-833-833-3333 (Advice 24/7, Appointments during local business hours). Video visits and telephone appointments are available for most primary care needs.

If you need a prescription or refill, go to any open Kaiser Permanente pharmacy. If there is no nearby KP pharmacy or if other assistance is needed, including redirecting mail order prescriptions, call the Hawaii KP Pharmacy Center at 1-808-643-7979 or visit kp.org/pharmacy.

HMSA Members

Medical Insurance Support

Early Refills of Maintenance Medications in lieu of Wildfires – Hurricane Dora

To help members get the medications they need, HMSA will allow early refills of maintenance medications for its members on all islands (or specific disrupted area). A member must have refills available on their prescription.

Members should call the Customer Care line for approval at one of these phone numbers:

  • HMSA members who get their health insurance from their employer or buy it on their own: 1-855-298-2491
  • For any HMSA members who need additional care and are unable to obtain it on Maui, HMSA will arrange for any travel accommodations for those in need of transport to Oahu. Members are encouraged to call HMSA Customer Relations at the number on the back of their HMSA membership card.
  • The HMSA Centers in Kahului and Hilo remains open to service members per its normal business hours. We will continue monitoring the situation and announce any changes as necessary.
Any Allied Employee Impacted by the Maui Fires

Emergency Response Legal Assistance

MetLife Legal Plans is activating the Emergency Response Legal Assistance Plan. This offers free attorney document review and consultation for Allied employees who are impacted by the fires, regardless of whether you are enrolled in the Legal Plan. Network attorneys can provide document review and consultations for many issues, at no cost, through the Emergency Response Legal Assistance. These include:

  • Reviewing documents related to federal aid and insurance claims
  • Providing consultation for identity theft issues due to lost personal documents
  • Answering questions about damaged property for renters or homeowners
  • Providing advice on dealing with creditors and bill collectors

EyeMed Members

Vision Insurance Support

Customer Care Center representatives are ready to provide the following services for affected EyeMed members via a dedicated emergency toll-free line 1.866.652.0018:

  1. Temporary Adjustable Glasses: If immediate materials are needed, a call center representative can expedite shipping adjustable glasses to members—at no cost. These glasses enable individuals to adjust for different distances and switch focus for reading, computer and distance. For members displaced with no immediate address, we can work with them to determine a location where they can be picked up.
  2. Eligibility re-instatement: Members who have exhausted their benefit, but need new glasses or contact lenses due to the current disaster, can request an eligibility reset.
  3. Free shipping for glasses and contacts: Glasses.com and ContactsDirect.com are offering free, expedited shipping. Our agents can provide affected members with discount codes for use online.

Additional disaster response information:

  • Network: Local network eye care providers have been notified of State of Emergency procedures where applicable.
  • Compliance: EyeMed will comply with any additional mandates required through state or local insurance compliance bulletins issued regarding the specific disaster.

Free Counseling Services

The Hawai‘i Medical Service Association’s partner, Carelon Behavioral Health, is offering free counseling services to support anyone affected by the wildfires on Maui. People in need can call the dedicated support line at 1-800-580-6934.
